Cat World Domination Day

Did you know that June 24th is Cat World Domination Day? Are our feline friends plotting to take over the world? Or is Fluffy content with just bossing her owners around? Read on as an Oconomowoc, WI vet discusses these little furballs’ plans for complete world domination.

We need look no further than Egypt to find proof of Fluffy’s ability to dominate us. The ancient Egyptians revered cats, and considered them sacred. Similar outlooks developed in many places throughout the ancient world. In fact, one Chinese village kept fishpond stocked just for kitties!

How would our feline pals go about taking over the world? Well, Fluffy may start by filling up the internet with cat photos, videos, and memes. She may also try to control your thinking, perhaps by sprawling out on your books and magazines.

There actually may be strong evidence to support the claim that cats have been plotting this all along. Cats have managed to infiltrate some fairly high-profile places. Take Larry, for instance. As Chief Mouser to The Cabinet office, Larry resides at 10 Downing St., the residence of the British Prime Minister. The president of Taiwan also has two kitties, Think Think and Ah Tsai. We suspect these feline spies have overheard a thing or two!

Have you ever noticed your kitty just staring at you? She may be observing you and gathering information for later use! Something else to consider: when Fluffy attacks her catnip mouse, she may just be practicing her battle skills for the big day.

What if our feline buddies did take over the world? What would they do? We suspect our furry overlords would probably demand that we provide them with numerous soft beds, catnip mice, and treats. Catnip gardens and stocked fishponds may start popping up all over the place. You would probably also be expected to put cat towers and empty boxes in every room. Kitties may also insist that was keep our blinds open, so they could take full advantage of every sunbeam. Of course, you needn’t be too worried. Chances are, Fluffy would frequently fall asleep on the job, and would be more interested in napping than in actually ruling the world.
